Wendy is a great host for this condo. It had everything we needed, along with beach accessories like sand chairs, a beach cart, boogie board & beach toys. Very comfortable setting and easy access to the beach and ponds throughout the complex. Our little dog lost a couple of pounds, which she needed, running the beaches and up and down the stairs.

We & our dog loved the pet-friendly beach & we loved the Barrier Dunes townhouse & extras

Thank you for this nice time. The house was super clean (perfect) and filled with everything you could need. The house is much bigger than it looks on the photos. The staff was very friendly and helpful at every time. The beach is beautiful and clean. We had a wonderful time and we will come back soon.

Beautiful beach & super clean rental

Had a wonderful time and will for sure return very soon … everything was available that we needed and the location was perfect…our dog babies had a great time and we are so thankful to you for allowing them all to come along, next time hopefully we will only have 1 or 2,  as planned….. I’ll share a pic soon as I have several….. Thanks So Much Wendy we will be contacting you again …..♥️

Cape San Blas is wonderful for people & their dogs!

We had a great weekend at Waters Edge. I’ve stayed at a lot of rental houses on the Gulf and this one was one of the best prepared, well stocked kitchen supplies, plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, and great information book for all of the local and property details.
Thanks for the attention to detail (and the prefect weather!).

So many extra amenities & great guest book!

When our original vacation plans were sidetracked by Hurricane Dorian, we had to scramble to salvage a quick, end of summer trip. Fortunately for us, I came across Wendy Jackson, owner of Wendy’s Cape Escape – a rental agency offering nearly a dozen properties. Wendy was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. From the time I initially contacted her about a rental, up until her follow up email making sure we enjoyed our stay, she has been thorough, courteous, and friendly.

The condo was very clean and situated just steps from beach access. Additionally, Wendy stocked the condo with a number of necessary items – everything from paper goods to beach equipment to towels specifically labeled for your dog – all of which came in very handy. We loved being able to bring our dog to the pet-friendly condo, as well as the pet-friendly beaches. However, if for some reason you aren’t an animal lover, you would never know that dogs had previously been in the unit.

Lastly, the Cape is absolutely back open for business and welcoming your tourist dollar. The beach next to the condo was in excellent shape, and just as beautiful as it had been prior to Michael. While Mexico Beach has a long road ahead, both Port Saint Joe and Apalachicola have numerous dining options and are within a reasonable drive of the condo. During our stay, we were able to go to dinner in both towns and still make it back in plenty of time before our 2 year old daughter got cranky! If you don’t want to venture as far, the Cape has options as well. There’s no reason to have any trepidation when planning a trip to the Forgotten Coast at this point.

I’d highly recommend you contact Wendy and Wendy’s Cape Escape when you do. We will be back soon!

Very Clean & just STEPS to the beach Access! We will be back soon!

We stayed at the Water’s Edge unit in Barrier Dunes in April/May 2019. The townhome had everything we needed and was very clean. Barrier Dunes has recovered after the hurricane #capestrong. We’ve been staying at the Cape for 10 years and the beach is as beautiful as we remember it. The water was inviting and the pool was perfect for afternoon relaxing.

Make sure you stop by Weber’s Donuts for some delicious homemade donuts in the morning. The Trading Post is stocked with essentials if you don’t want to leave the Cape. We walked down the beach to find the Donna Kay fishing boat. It’s maybe 1-2 miles south of the Stumphole (rocks). There were a lot of shells to find along the way. The road is almost finished with repairs and we had no problem passing to and from. It’s dark at night, perfect for stargazing and seeing the Milky Way. Stop at Coneheads for ice cream and a meal. It’s right on the Cape and has delicious food.

St Joseph Peninsula State Park is still beautiful and is worth a day trip. It’s literally down the road from Barrier Dunes. Port St. Joe is just a 25 minute drive from Barrier Dunes. There are several shops and boutiques on Reid Street to explore. There is a Farmer’s Market the first and third Saturdays at the end of Reid Street. Piggly Wiggly has everything you need from groceries to souvenirs. We were pleasantly surprised to find Olive Garden salad dressing and the coconut water we like. Pepper’s is good Mexican style food and Provisions has good sandwiches and pasta.

We absolutely love the Cape and can’t wait to go back. We’re already planning our next trip to the Comeback Coast!

Love Cape San Blas – Waters Edge had EVERYTHING we needed and was VERY clean!

We had a great time on the Cape(including Koda) – it’s such a beautiful and relaxing area, and your place makes you feel right at home.  Thanks for your hospitality.  I’ll see if we can plan a bit further ahead next year, but with two sons and their significant others working relatively new jobs, plus a daughter in vet school, planning for any kind of family time is a challenge.
FYI, the only time we really needed anything (replacement light bulbs for the four that were burned out on arrival), Soni was there literally in minutes after I texted her! Also FYI, the hose will need replacement soon – I patched some holes with duct tape, but it won’t last much longer, especially as much use as it seems to get from the surrounding condos (based on the fact the area around the hose seems to always be wet and sandy).

Provision, Owl Café, Joe Mamas, Sunset Coastal, Triple Tails, and Shipwreck Raw Bar were all great food.  We never could bring ourselves to wait in the ungodly crowd for Indian Pass.

We had a great time on the Cape

Just wanted to let you know how happy we were with the rental.  It was the dogs first time at the beach and they loved it.  The beach is beautiful, the people were friendly and the rental was great – much larger than I expected.  Multiple balconies, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, towels, crib, etc made it feel like you were at home.  There were even beach toys for the toddler.   Really great vacation and we’ll be back for sure.

Hi Wendy – We just loved our stay at Barrier Dunes! The unit we rented was awesome – had absolutely everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed and living room couches were so comfy. Sunsets from our decks were beautiful! We walked on the beach every day – loved that it wasn’t crowded and that it was dog-friendly. In fact, we were often the only ones on the beach. The complex is extremely well managed – very clean, nicely landscaped, and quiet. I really appreciated all the doggie stations with bags and trash cans. Every day we ate fresh seafood from either Port St Joe or Apalachicola – the oysters and shrimp were amazing!! Definitely coming back next year, but for a longer period of time. One week was not enough!! Just loved this place – thanks – from a very happy renter.

Hi Wendy – We just loved our stay at Barrier Dunes!

My wife and I, along with our Lab mix Shanti, just had the best beach trip ever.  We loved the pet-friendly, what a treat! Water’s Edge was perfect, so close to the beach.  Meeting so many nice friendly people staying there and around there was a real surprise treat, and Wendy is a very gracious host.  This truly is Cape Escape as this place allows one to totally disconnect and encourages that.  Don’t miss Indian Pass Raw Bar for delicious oysters and shrimp right off the boat as well as more friendly people.  And the beach is the best, as the water is great at this location along with the sugar white, fine sand.  The Cape is a delight and this makes it so enjoyable.  We are already making plans for our return.” – Farra Allen, Marion Bodner, and Shanti.
