I just loved the decorating at the condo (Barrier Dunes 67 – Cape Escape I). We all agreed that it looked so natural and cheerful. We especially like the casual blue denim fabric on the couches and the beaches bedspreads. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and the grill started right up so we felt at home pretty quickly. Lucy, our lab, loved the ocean and was exhausted, so was easy to manage in the new environment.

We rented bikes from Scallop Cove and enjoyed biking in the state park and on the bike path towards Port St. Joe. My husband got hooded on the donut stand (this is at the Trading Post).

Leslie is an artist and May 1 – 10 there was a county wide Plein Air art event going on, so we really enjoyed going to the exhibits and meeting artist outdoors painting in Apalachicola and seeing the web room at WindMark beach. We also enjoyed the year-round art galleries in Apalachicola, especially the Bowery. Leslie liked Tamara’s Cafe in Apalach so we ate there twice.

The vacation was really about the beach, which was lovely. Evan loved playing Frisbee on the sandbar, 50 feet out. We saw dolphins, a manta ray and pelican. All Lucy, our lab cared about was fetching balls out of the ocean. She was obsessed. The whole dog culture at Barrier Dunes was fun.

Beautiful vacation. Lovely beach, pools and tennis courts. Lovely grounds and friendly people!
