When our original vacation plans were sidetracked by Hurricane Dorian, we had to scramble to salvage a quick, end of summer trip. Fortunately for us, I came across Wendy Jackson, owner of Wendy’s Cape Escape – a rental agency offering nearly a dozen properties. Wendy was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. From the time I initially contacted her about a rental, up until her follow up email making sure we enjoyed our stay, she has been thorough, courteous, and friendly.
The condo was very clean and situated just steps from beach access. Additionally, Wendy stocked the condo with a number of necessary items – everything from paper goods to beach equipment to towels specifically labeled for your dog – all of which came in very handy. We loved being able to bring our dog to the pet-friendly condo, as well as the pet-friendly beaches. However, if for some reason you aren’t an animal lover, you would never know that dogs had previously been in the unit.
Lastly, the Cape is absolutely back open for business and welcoming your tourist dollar. The beach next to the condo was in excellent shape, and just as beautiful as it had been prior to Michael. While Mexico Beach has a long road ahead, both Port Saint Joe and Apalachicola have numerous dining options and are within a reasonable drive of the condo. During our stay, we were able to go to dinner in both towns and still make it back in plenty of time before our 2 year old daughter got cranky! If you don’t want to venture as far, the Cape has options as well. There’s no reason to have any trepidation when planning a trip to the Forgotten Coast at this point.
I’d highly recommend you contact Wendy and Wendy’s Cape Escape when you do. We will be back soon!
