Dog Friendly Beaches - Pet Friendly Info - Cape San BlasGULF COUNTY COMMENTS:
“For those traveling with pets, we’d like to say that we love animals in Gulf County. Within the State Parks, however, pets are unfortunately not allowed on the beach. On all other beaches, pets on a leash are more than welcome to take their owners for walks and enjoy the great water and beach.” – Gulf County Tourist Development Council.

You and your dog(s) are welcome at any of our Cape San Blas Vacation Rentals & on the on the beach, but you need to be a responsible pet owner!

See some of our guest dogs on our Facebook page!

If your dog has a paw injury that needs to keep sand out, try Glad Press and Seal wrap. It goes on quickly, is fairly thick and has some traction on it because of the texture. It also comes off easily without sticking to the fur but had enough adhesion ot do the trick of sealing off the area!

  • Always keep your dog leashed when there is a leash law.
  • Always clean up after your dog by using a poop bag (there are several pet stations around Barrier Dunes to make this EASY!)
  • Do not let your dog visit with other beach-goers or dogs, unless welcomed (meaning talk to those around you…most of the time you will just make a friend and your dog will too!).
  • Not a pet owner? Concerned about staying in a pet-friendly unit? We don’t think that you will be able to tell that a pet has been there before your stay! We are very particular and meticulous about the cleanliness of our vacation rentals! Before we were dog owners, we would not have considered a dog in the house or the car! What a change—2 dogs (and 2 kids) later! We understand the concern and think you will be pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of our rentals!
  • YES! Big / Large dogs are VERY welcome!

paw2Pets are welcome at our Barrier Dunes Vacation Rentals on a limited basis. 1stt rule is, they must be well-behaved dogs ONLY! Alex, golden retriever, enjoying the shade of the umbrella after a good swim!

From our guest Tina

“…Alex, my golden retreiver, has never experienced the ocean in her 7 years & what an experience it was! Biting at the waves and chasing her toy in the water, swimming until she was absolutely exhausted! It was wonderful for the both of us–many great memories! “

The Doan’s call this picture “OREO”. They all enjoyed their trip to Cape San Blas! Here they are relaxing on the back deck of The Cape Escape I in Barrier Dunes!

From the Doans: “We LOVED the area and the isolated beaches–dogs had a great time. Tex and Gabby swam a lot, chasing balls or crab bait—Charlie turned into a “sissy boy” and never got totally wet–he was funny!”

Buzz, our new lab mix, finally made his “debut” in Cape San Blas! He is definitely a beach dog! He’s now about 40 pounds heavier than the above picture–but still as cute as he can be! He met dog friends everywhere and played hard–it’s the first time in his short life we’ve seen him tired! He’s part lab, so he definitely likes to swim, but wasn’t all that sure about water that “moves on it’s own!”

This is Dario, another one of our wonderful guest beach dogs!! Dario is showing off his incredible “crab catching” speed! He loves the pet friendly beaches at Cape San Blas, Florida!

“We had a great time! The dogs absolutely loved it! It was their first time at the beach and they loved being out on the sand. One of our dogs really likes chasing crabs! Unfortunately we had to come back to reality! “

Kent S.(Aug.Guest)

From our guest, Krista:We really loved it out there. We can’t wait to go back. It is such a beautiful place. The condo was great with everything we needed. Thank you so much. Oh Yes! Dusty (our dog) loved the beach. There were hardly any people out there last week, so we let her walk with us off the leash. She was great & excited.”

Deanny Hardy: “The condo was very well equipped with extra things in the kitchen and beach stuff. It was so much fun to have to be able to bring our “kids”…I loved having our dogs with us! The lab had a blast! I think he had the most fun of us all. We’ll definitely plan to vacation at Cape San Blas FL again, hopefully sooner than later! I will be in touch when we are ready to book another vacation! Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay at such a wonderful beach!”

The dishes with the pay prints are yours and contain your food.
The other dishes are mine and contain my food.
Please note that placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not mean it becomes your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest!

The stairway is NOT a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object.
Tripping me doesn’t help because I fall faster than you can run!

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed.
I am very sorry about this.
Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch forever to ensure your comfort.
Dogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.
It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible.
I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm and disrespect.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom.
If by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to clay, whine, bark or turn the know or stick your paw under the edge and try and pull the door open.
I must exit through the same door I entered. I have been using the bathroom for years–canine attendance is NOT mandatory!

The proper order is: Kiss Me, Smell the other end of the dog, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear dogs:

Dogs are better than kids because they eat less, don’t ask for money all the time, usually come when they are called, never drive your car, don’t hang out with drug-users, don’t smoke or drink, don’t wear your clothes, don’t have to wear the latest fashions, don’t need a gazillon dollars for college and if they get pregnant, you can sell their children!
