Andrew Ross and Famly (March 2107)
Our experience was great. Cape San Blas is truly lovely. The miles of open beach makes for great strolls up and down the peninsula. Our dog loved going in and out of the water and rolling in the sand.
Bill Gillspie (November 2016)
Thanks! We enjoyed our little get away!
Rich and Karen Koboldt (October 2016)
We enjoyed our time at Barrier Dunes immensely! The home was so comfortable it was almost like being at home!
We enjoyed exploring the beach and looking for shells. We also went to St. Joseph State park and checked out the beach and dunes there. Another day we rented kayaks and paddled around the bay. We also took a trip to Apalachicola and did some souvenir shopping and ate lunch at the Owl Cafe….delicious! We also went to Mexico beach and had dinner at a seafood restaurant called Toucans. Towards the end of our trip we to St. George Island….very beautiful!!
We had such a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer. We hope to return to Cape San Blas soon. When we do…we’d love to stay at Barrier Dunes!
Robin Brainard (July 2016)
We LOVED our stay! It was hard to leave!
Elsa Donetes & Family (June 2016)
Had an amazing time at your place , it was very clean and very accommodating. The cape is very family oriented and pet friendly which made it very special to be able to bring our four legged baby..I truly enjoyed the visit there, life is about making memories and we definitely made a few. My son got engaged on the beach at sundown and the event was amazing!!! Looking forward to coming back real soon…Thank you again!!!
Julie E. (April 2016)
We enjoyed exploring/visiting Cape San Blas and only wish we had more time. The Cape Escape community is wonderful and felt super welcoming. We loved the local Trading Post for groceries (amazing selection for its size), t shirts and yummy cookies. Obviously, walking the beach, bird watching, and swimming were enjoyed by our family. Coming out of a Vermont winter, 70 degree water didn’t feel too bad! I found having the two pools and tennis courts at Barrier Dunes a bonus as well. Though we really never felt a need to leave the Cape, exploring fun shops in Port St. Joe and Apalachicola one cloudy, rainy day was a great diversion. I love to cook, so getting your recommendation of a the local seafood market meant we didn’t go out to dinner at all!
The Adams Family (November 2015)
We had been wanting to plan a trip to take our 7 year old dog Riley to the beach over Thanksgiving, & Barrier Dunes was perfect for what we were looking for. Wendy was great at answering our questions & providing recommendations. Riley loved the beach & the unit conveniently had pet towels & an outdoor hose to rinse her off after our walks on the beach. The complex also had pet stations throughout which was very helpful.
There are so many activities on the Cape to enjoy. We made smores by our beach bonfires at night, went kayaking, and saw some amazing dunes in the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. We loved that our unit provided a lot that you would normally have to buy such as dish detergent & hand soap. Everyone at Barrier Dunes was very friendly & we will definitely be coming back & recommend to others : )
Laura Wise (June 2015)
Our new favorite beach! Exactly what we have been looking for! The beaches are beautiful & uncrowded, very dog friendly! The accommodates were great. Can’t wait to come back next year for much longer!
Nancy Webber (May 2015)
Thank you so much Wendy! We enjoyed our stay so much! We were very impressed with the grounds, how clean and pretty everything was. We liked our condo and would love to come back! WE didn’t do anything except hang on the beach all day, we bought fresh seafood and cooked at the condo. We came to relax and do nothing! Exactly what we wanted.
Thanks so much for everything and I hope we can get there again this year!
Janet Hermans & Family (May 2015)
I just loved the decorating at the condo (Barrier Dunes 67 – Cape Escape I). We all agreed that it looked so natural and cheerful. We especially like the casual blue denim fabric on the couches and the beaches bedspreads. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and the grill started right up so we felt at home pretty quickly. Lucy, our lab, loved the ocean and was exhausted, so was easy to manage in the new environment.
We rented bikes from Scallop Cove and enjoyed biking in the state park and on the bike path towards Port St. Joe. My husband got hooded on the donut stand (this is at the Trading Post).
Leslie is an artist and May 1 – 10 there was a county wide Plein Air art event going on, so we really enjoyed going to the exhibits and meeting artist outdoors painting in Apalachicola and seeing the web room at WindMark beach. We also enjoyed the year-round art galleries in Apalachicola, especially the Bowery. Leslie liked Tamara’s Cafe in Apalach so we ate there twice.
The vacation was really about the beach, which was lovely. Evan loved playing Frisbee on the sandbar, 50 feet out. We saw dolphins, a manta ray and pelican. All Lucy, our lab cared about was fetching balls out of the ocean. She was obsessed. The whole dog culture at Barrier Dunes was fun.
Beautiful vacation. Lovely beach, pools and tennis courts. Lovely grounds and friendly people!
Ryan & Bethany Liedel (November 2014)
This was our 1 year wedding anniversary trip. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place and people. It was incredibly stress free & relaxing. We had the beach almost entirely to ourselves. This condo had everything we could have ever needed. It was so quiet which was perfect for us.
It was nice to find a place so nice and accepting our dogs with no breed restrictions.
We weren’t here an hour before we discussed a return trip and sent pics to family as a suggested destination. I like this place—can’t wait to come back. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating trip!
Christy Singleton (May 2014)
What a majestic beach at Cape San Blas and the amazing giant dunes etc! We were so captivated and really loved visiting your home. Both my husband’s family and mine have contemplated a Florida vacation so we will be recommending your home etc when we tell them about our adventures.
Mary and Ken Dayton (March/April 2014)
Our 3 weeks at Barrier Dunes #67 were delightful!
The condo was wonderfully comfy and so well stocked! We appreciated the thought that went into having everything one needs…from laundry soap to beach chairs etc…We loved walking the well kept and ‘blooming’ grounds of Barrier Dunes…and of course the gorgeous beach…only steps from the condo!!The Beach…shells to collect and watching the children and dogs and dolphins frolicking in the water…it was not difficult to RELAX!!
We enjoyed the variety of local restaurants and of course grilling the fresh catch from one of the near-by fish/shrimp stores. Apalachicola offered a very interesting ‘Estuary Tour’ and shopping and eating were great too!! And the sunsets were lovely…a perfect ending to every day!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful beach home….
PS We were ‘treated’ to a beautiful sunrise the morning we drove away from Barrier Dunes…it took our breath away!
Sharon Burtrum (February 2014)
It was great but after coming back I wished I would have booked for a longer time! Our weather forecast calls for ‘bitter cold with no relief in sight’.
Cape Escape I – Barrier Dunes 67 was a comfortable place and Barrier Dunes has such a friendly bunch of people.
Peg and Jim Hamilton (February 2014)
Thanks for sharing your home with us. We had a lovely time.
John Higgins (October 2013)
We had a very good time. The house was very nice. Hope to come again in the future.
Mary Peters (Aug/September 2013)
Yes Wendy we had a great time! It is a beautiful beach, I know God is always with me, but it seems more real in a beautiful place like the cape, and your condo was perfect. It was not to far to go to all our favorite restaurants in Apalachicola. I am sure we will come again soon. Thanks for all your help.

The Burris and Hogue Families (June 2013)
We had such a great time at Cape San Blas this week. Will Henry loved his first time at the beach. Everyone at CSB was so friendly. We can’t wait to come back next year. Thanks for all your help in making this a great vacation for our families.
Anna Wheeler (April 2013)
Yes – we had a wonderful time! We really needed a week away from the daily grind and family commitments! It was so nice for him to relax and have a good time. And of course – the dogs had a wonderful time. Our dogs went to bed – by themselves – at 7:00 pm last night!
I will send pictures and another email soon. Thanks again!
Julie Banks (April 2013)
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely escape with our family! We had a wonderful and relaxing time. What a beautiful place! I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed the trip and how much we appreciate the care that was put into making us comfortable. I will also send pictures of the trip soon.
Rex Wuthrich (March/April 2013)
I just wanted to send a quick note to thank-you for all the help. We had a great time. Everything was great. No issues or problems. Beautiful white sand beaches for walking / playing, plenty of sun, a sunset campfire on the beach, golf, shopping…..it doesn’t get any better. Thanks so much for having us. We loved it.
The Mitchell Family (March 2013)
Wendy, we had a great time at the Cape really enjoyed your condo and had a wonderful time at the beach. It was a little cool first part of the week but then warmed up nicely for the rest looks like we will be coming back.
Jessa and Trixie loved the sand. We ate at the raw oyster bar twice we liked it so much.
We even looked at some properties while we were there.
Connie & Joe Berson (and pups), March 2013
We took our time getting back to cold Illinois, so we arrived late Saturday. But we all had a wonderful time at the Cape. It was great being able to take our pets along and not having to worry about them if they were boarded. But everything was great. Barrier Dunes 67 – Cape Escape I was great, very comfortable and we enjoyed the food and places we tried while there. Thank you for being so easy to deal with, we don’t get that kind of experience too often and it was great a hassle free vacation. We were all amazed at the great service and how nice the place was and no hassle with our dogs. Thanks again to you. Will send very cute pictures of our dogs at the beach if that’s ok soon. Also would like to make this a yearly thing for us.
Thanks so very much!
Connie , Joe , Logan , Emmitt , and Dallas Bersano
Stevi Driver (March 2013)
Wendy, it was absolutely WONDERFUL! Thank you so much!
Angelo and Vicki Lattuca (January 2013)
Hi Wendy. We made it back ok… snow…yuck! I’d rather be walking on the beach! Now i understand why retirees become “snowbirds!” Cape San Blas was everything you said it would be. It’s the perfect place for us. We met so many wonderful people too, very friendly & welcoming.
We hiked, played tennis, fished, went to the gym in port st. joe a few times a week. next time we will bring our bikes & Angelo wants to get an ocean kayak to explore the bay. There’s so much wildlife to see: dolphins, sharks, deer, birds, alligators, snakes, manatees, wow…everyday…something different. We went to Wakulla Springs State Park which was beautiful (& educational). We went to some of the local restaurants you suggested & the food was great. The local folks are so helpful & sweet, which made our visit even more special. Our dog lexi had the best vacation of her life! (our little dog Chloe past away on Christmas eve she was 15 & it was quite sudden) We really needed to get away after the holidays & just relax… we enjoyed every day in Barrier Bunes…& the sunsets are so breathtaking! You have a great place there Wendy, it felt so homey & comfortable, we didn’t want to leave. Thank you for the best vacation ever!
Michelle Murphy, December 2012
Thank you for having us at your wonderful condo. We had a great time. Everything we could possibly need was there. The kitchen was very well and thoughtfully stocked. From the second we walked in we felt at home. We went on the beach every day. I think the visit to the beach was the pinnacle of my dog’s whole life. That is how much he enjoyed it. We would definitely return to one of your condos. Thanks again!
Cheryl, David, Samantha and Jack (the dog) Campbell, November 2012
We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Cape San Blas, the Barrier Dunes and Cape Escape #67! We had a fabulous family trip, and DO plan to return! The town home was better than expected, comfortable, clean and homey. We were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked it was! The carport set up was great for the dog and we were all pleased to find the beach equipment in the shed – the little wagon cart was key! We had a few sunny days, and with temps in the low 70’s we were able to “play” on the beach and even waded in the water a bit. Our 8 month old Labrador was in heaven! Too bad we missed you! We had to head out to South Carolina to meet family for Thanksgiving, but were raving about our Florida find and were hoping to get them out there with us next year. Hopefully we’ll get to meet in person then!
Thanks for your follow up. Have a Happy Holiday with your family!
Tami Ullum (and the future Liam Ullum) October 2012
My girls absolutely LOVED Cape San Blas both times we went. Wendy’s Cape Escape provides exceptional accommodations at a convenient price. In addition, Wendy’s first-rate service is unparalleled. As such, Wendy’s Cape Escape paradise has become a tradition with the Ullom clan :).”
I can’t wait for Liam to get here, so we can take him to the beach. Cape San Blas will definitely be his first time to the beach – outside of the womb ;).
Jessica Smith, September 2012
Thanks so much Wendy! Our trip was amazingly breathtaking. We were in town for a wedding so we did not get to explore much beyond the beach or pool but had the best time! My husband and I are already talking about making another trip down for our own family vacation. The location of 67 really was perfect, what an easy walk to everything. We did make it to the Indian Pass Raw bar and Sunset coastal grill which were both so yummy!! The wedding was catered by Provisions which was also delicious! It really was the best trip we’ve taken this year and we cant wait to come back. Most likely the same time of year, we loved how deserted it felt! It was so nice getting away from the world for a couple days. Thanks again for making everything so easy!
Michelle K. Barrier Dunes 67, September 2012
We greatly enjoyed our weekend away at the Cape. Your place is wonderful. I think you have thought of just about everything to make a visit there fabulous. My husband and I were dreaming of owning there.
The highlight for us was watching our puppy run and play on the beach. We got to see her swim for the first time. Being part Labrador Retriever, of course, she loves the water. And she loves people and enjoyed visiting with everyone. I think we could be a family of ten and she still wouldn’t get enough attention.
We would stay again and would even recommend it to others. Thanks for being so inviting and welcoming.
Robin Burgess, May 2011 (Repeat Guest)
We had a great time at the beach and staying in Cape Escape I! It was indeed a pleasant surprise to see that you had just done some upgrades to your place! How nice it was :-)! We met several people there…..we were all surprised at teh number repeat visitors coming back to a wonderful place. The beach was wonderful and our new miniature schnauzer had a great time seeing the ocean for the first time…something we would not be able to do anywhere else. We actually did not leave Barrier Dunes the whole time we were there. We just relaxed and enjoyed everything there. Hope to be back soon!
Jenni Arnold, March 2011
We are just leaving Cape San Blas. Thank you so much for everything. We really enjoyed Barrier Dunes 67! We will let you know when we can return. Wakulla Springs is awesome. We took the river cruise and couldn’t believe all the alligators, manatees and birds we saw. We also enjoyed the horseback riding at Salinas Park. Russell and Julie run a great horseback riding organization!
Charles & Kay Kiegley, January 2011
Kay, Bonnie, Meg and I had a great stay at your Cape Escape I unit in Cape San Blas. It was very peaceful and we met a number of very nice Canadians and American Yankees. We found your uit to be very well stocked with the necessary gear! We would certainly consider a return trip! Best of luck with your rentals in 2011!
Patricia Fandt, December 2010
Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our special stay. We loved the condo and everything was terrific. We loved the beach and the accommodations were excellent. Met some of our neighbors too who were delightful. Thank you!
Brian Boardman, October 2010
Thanks for the wonderful accomodations! The Cape Escape I is a great unit. The amenities provided are above and beyond what I’m used to seeing. Jack and I loved the beach! Cape San Blas will be in our memory bacnks for a looooong time. We hope to come back some day.
Kim Chavis, October 2010
We had a wonderful time. I want to thank you for helping me in my desperation and for allowing us to you home. We had the best time! We loved your space and look forward to contacting you again to use one of your rentals! We are avidly talking about possibly relocating.
Cid Morgan, September/October 2010
We both had a great time. Everyone was very friendly. Will look forward to coming back in the future when I can get a large amount time off again!
Allison Walker, September 2010
Thank you so much! We loved it and had a GREAT time. With every wave my 2 year old said “fun at the beach”! It was great. Thank you again!
Samuel Soto, June 2010
We left positive comments in your guest book. We enjoyed the stay at Barrier Dunes. I was amazed at all the supplies you provided. I have never seen a place with everything included. We relaxed and spent time enjoying the quite place. Thanks for all your help. We will recommend this place to others!
Tony Minervini, June 15 2010
We had a great time! We really enjoyed the stay there, everything was great! Things went so well it was almost too good to be true. We even caught and cooked some crabs while there so there are many priceless memories in the trip. I would certainly recommend your place to our friends and family!
Rosanne Gervasi, May 2010
We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the unit very much and the beautiful white sand beaches too, of course. We hope to be able to return again soon. We will certainly call you when we are ready for our next Cape Escape. Thanks again for the hospitality!
Devon Rudloff, May 2010 (Repeat Guest)
It was absolutely the best vacation ever! Thank you so much. Boo and I rested, relaxed and had a great time….we had a blast! The weather was great and I wrote my book (at least the first version of it). Thanks again!
Bob and Sheila Nelson, March 2010
We arrived back home safe and sound. Darby, our Westie, slept most of the way back….all 3 days! It had to have been all that fresh air and tearing around the beach that did him in!
Thank you so much for providing a wonderful place for us to call home for 2 weeks. We are thoroughly unwound! Your house is “super stocked” with everything one needs for anything.
We were able to have fresh seafood often. When my son and daughter-in-law joined us for a few days, they were convinced that the chowder I made was the best thing they have ever eaten…….they were able to relax adn get in a full day of sunburns and fun in the sun. They want to come back.
We have told so many people about the Cape and reiterated that we hope to return next year! Thank you!
Julian Tisdale, August 2009
The condo was perfect for what we were looking for. All your directions/instructions worked perfectly as well. Thanks again! It is definitely a spot we would recommend and consider going back to.
Cindi Apgar, June 2009
There are not enough MAJESTIC words for our dream trip & staying in your home. Thank you so much!
Gloria Rushing, May 2009
I did have a safe trip home. I especially enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the area. My dog enjoyed the beach and her walks around the complex.
Michele Assavedo, May 2009
We had a great time. Your home is beautiful. WE relaxed and played on the beach the entire time. Duke (black lab) never played so hard. He has only been to the beach once (Biloxi, MS) for an hour or two, so he was in heaven…….We enjoyed quality time with our only child. She is 20 and away at college so we needed to get away and be together i/o at home where there is always work to be done.
We have already recommended the Cape to several people and are trying to have a family reunion there!
Yolanda Carbia (& Lobo the black lab & Ryder the lab mix) May 2009
The place was clean, comfortable, quiet and absolutely great. Cape San Blas is a sleepy and perfect get away. I hope it never gets big and commercialized. I love how cell phones don’t work out there. I had 20 messages on my Blackberry and they all had to wait!
We enjoyed the beach and being able to take my dogs on long walks. The State park near Barrier Dunes was great. We hiked up the 2 trails and got some great pictures.
Overall it was the laid back time which is what I was looking for. I got to catch up on some much needed rest. Thank you for everything and I hope that my family will come along on the next one.
Yolanda and her beautiful Labs!
Kathy Panov, May 2009
We had such a wonderful time at the Cape! Your beach house was SO great! You really did think of everything! IT was so very comfortable, felt just like home! The beach–gorgeous! And we have never met so many nice people in one place! So we thank you for the opportunity to stay at your house and to bring our dog as well, how is now (still) going through beach withdrawal!
We will definitely be telling everyone we know about your place and hope to return sometime soon! Thanks for everything!!
Melissa Bourbeau, April 2009
We had a wonderful time at the Cape. Your beach house was perfect for our family. All the people with dogs at Barrier Dunes were so nice. There were many nice people out on the beach as well. I have already recommended the place to 2 others and will continue to do so. It was great not having to leave the dogs behind!
Christina Kasper, April 2009
Thank you so much for providing such a a wonderful getaway spot! The Cape Escape I was by far the best vacation rental property we have had (and we have been to several in the last 6 months or so)! We had a wonderful time and the wedding was wonderful too. Thanks again and we look forward to our next trip down when we will absolutely get in touch with you for reservations!
Jan Masica, March/April 2009 (repeat guest)
As usual we felt very much at home as soon as we walked in the door of your great vacation home. Your home is so comfortable. It is easy to kick back and relax. Being “repeat” visitors, we were even more comfortable. We are so grateful that you allow us to bring the dogs with us. They love the Cape as much as we do!
We had a wonderful time at the Cape…walking the beach, reading a lot, playing ball on the beach with the dogs and letting the dogs swim and crash into the waves! Our Golden Retriever, Uno, was quite the hit carrying his bag of tennis balls to and from the beach every day. We saw dolphins nearly every day right off shore in front of Barrier Dunes and 1 day there were at least 20-30 of them stretched along the shore for several yards! It was great to see them frolicking in the water. We were also delighted to see a bald eagle in flight over the beach on 2 separate occasions.
We returned home almost 2 weeks ago, relaxed and ready to get back to the daily grind, but we are already thinking about next year! Thanks again Wendy!
Craig and Honey Cunningham, April 2009
We had a great vacation and enjoyed your place the area very much.
Rip Stotts, October 2008
Thanks! We had a great time. Your beach house was perfect. We’ll be back in the near future!
Colleen Bishop, September 2008
We had the best vacation ever and are planning a return trip! I will send digital photos soon. Max just loved swimming in the ocean and trying to catch the birds.
Thank you again for a great trip!
Lori & Bill Gould, September 2008
We enjoyed our stay immensely and will highly recommend it to all of our friends.
Sarah Calvert, August 2008
Thank you for everything! Your “Cape Escape” was wonderful & we were very comfortable there. We loved how you included all the little things we might need — like soaps, detergents, paper towels and the baby gear! You mande it so easy to relax adn not worry about all those small things. Your condo was also so clean and pretty! We enjoyed the beach, wow–it was so beautiful. We agreed it was the prettiest beach we had ever seen in Florida– and the water was a clear as bath water!
My husband enjoyed fishing off the shore every day — he caught some flounder & a baby shark one day. My baby girl and I strolled on the beach & played in the pool. Overall – a great vacation and we will be back for sure. I will recommend you to all my friends & family as well.
Major Mike Ballard, August 2008
We had a great time at the Cape. A couple days of rain, but still VERY relaxing. Sitting here at work, I wish I’d stayed down there….
Tony Anaya, August 2008
We enjoyed our stay and it exceeded our expectations. We found our vacation very relaxing as well as our digs. Thank you!
Bob and Carol Duez, August 2008
Carol and I have vacationed in Gulf Shores, AL every year for the last 6 years. We were unable to find a place this year that would allow us to bring Wrigley, our 9-month-old Golden Retriever. As a result we searched and ran across Cape Escape.
This vacation has changed our thoughts on vacationing. We absolutely had the best vacation in our 38 years of marriage. The most attractive parts of your vacation home were:
The house was extremely clean, well maintained, well stocked and very comfortable.
The gated community provided the extra security that makes you feel great especially when waling a 9-month-old puppy at 3 a.m.
The paved streets and dog exercise areas made our afternoon walks more enjoyable and conducive to cleaning up after our pet.
The bech was very clean, with fewer people than we’re accustom and because almost everyone had a pet, we had things in common with almost everyone and it was real easy to make friends.
On past vacations we spend most of our time and money eating out; this vacation we cooked at the house, used the gas grill and only ate out once.
As soon as we get over the shock of being home and returning to work, we will want to begin planing for next year’s trip. Thank you for all the help you provided us and we’ll try to send you a photo or 2 of our vacation!
Ashley Baloga, June 2008
