Thank you for the prompt return of our deposit. My husband and I had a wonderful time in Cape San Blas over the holidays. The Paradise condo was perfect for us. The views of the Gulf from the 3 balconies are spectacular & the easy access to the beach can’t be beat!
Christina Costa (November 2016)
We would like to thank the owners of “Paradise” for sharing their home with us. We found the home well taken care of and beautifully decorated.
When I arrived and opened the curtains from the balcony I was presented with the most beautiful beach with dolphins playing in the ocean. We feel a sleep every night to the sound of the ocean.
What else can you ask for?
Lori Green & family (October 2016)
What a beautiful weekend! Every feature of the home exceeded our expectations and although I realize there was no way for the owners to coordinate this detail- the weather couldn’t have been more perfect the entire time we were there! We are long-time visitors to Cape San Blas and it truly has some of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever seen so we were thrilled to be able to see them right from the deck of this house! Thanks for a weekend my family and I will remember for years to come!
Pat Toney (October 2016)
Thanks so much for answering all my question before we left and sending directions. You were a big help. I took your advice and used Two-bit stables for horse back riding.
Jean Williams (October 2016)
Our first visit to Cape San Blas was a wonderful visit.
Paradise #11 was all that we needed to enjoy and just relax. We didn’t need to go out for meals. Had a lot of fun visiting the fresh seafood market and cooking our own seafood.
The beach was beautiful and not crowded. Our Yorkie wasn’t so sure about the sand but after one trip in the water, he was hooked.
Our son and his fiance were with us. They will be getting married in the Spring and have decided to spend their honeymoon on the Cape.
Looking forward to our next visit to Paradise.
Kim Wohlers (September 2015)
We had a great time and will definitely be back!
Janet Wimsatt (July 2015)
This was our second time staying at Barrier Dunes, and just like the first time, everything was perfect! The house was everything we were expecting, was very clean and ready for us on our arrival. We love that our dog, Lucy, is very welcome there and even has her own towels to dry off her wet sandy paws! The grounds around Barrier Dunes is very manicured and always looks so beautiful. Plus they have several pet stations scattered around, so you are never too far from the very important “pooper scooper”! Everyone (human or canine) we encountered on the beach was always so friendly. It didn’t matter the age…the very young to the old…were such a joy to be around and to get acquainted with. Lucy loved splashing around in the waves and making new friends. Definitely a very friendly beach, for us and our dog! It is such a relaxing place to stay, and we will definitely be going back there in the future!
The Belote Family (June 2015)
We are halfway home and I wanted to drop and email and say THANK YOU for everything!
It was tough leaving Paradise this morning but time to get back to reality.
Everyone had a fantastic time and I’ll definitely be in contact soon in order to get a jump on next year’s vacation at Barrier Dunes!
The Jones Family (May 2015)
We had a wonderful time at Barrier Dunes 11 – Paradise. The house was lovely, clean & just about anything you needed to enjoy your time at the beach was provided! The view was awesome, being able to have the patio doors open in the evening, with the breeze & the sound of the ocean waves was just so relaxing. We loved being able to walk out the code & RIGHT onto the sand with the dogs. It’s a lovely, peaceful, relaxing place to stay!
You were wonderful to work with and I would recommend you without hesitation.
Nathan and Andrea Adams (Sept/Oct 2014)
We loved our stay! It was very relaxing!! It was peaceful and lovely weather. Thank you for helping us out!
The Cain Family, February 2014
Thank you Wendy. I will email some photos of the poodles and Mary on the beach.
Anyway, I have a neat story. The morning we were leaving we couldn’t find one of our little poodles. Rusty is 9 years old partially blind and is missing one of his front legs, making it somewhat difficult for him to get around. He must have gone out the door when we were loading. I was almost hysterical after running through Barrier Dunes yelling his name. I came upon a Canadian couple, and described Rusty to them. About 20 minutes later this nice man was knocking at our door with Rusty in his arms. He found him at the entrance. It just goes to show what a nice community Barrier Dunes is. If you could possibly find out this couple’s last name I would appreciate I. We want to send them a thank you card. Barrier Dunes will always be highly recommended by us.
Brian Hillman (October 2013)
When Brian was asked about his Fall vacation at Cape San Blas in Barrier Dunes 11 – Paradise, this was his reply:
That tells it all!
Nadia Berrouet, MSgt, USAF (September 2013)
My apologies for taking so long to respond, we had a great time! The house was great and everyone was pleased with the accommodations. Mom enjoyed it and hasn’t stopped talking about it. She sat in the surf every morning, while my sisters and I fished. Everyone has decided that the next time it has to be for at least two weeks. She plans on inviting her brothers and sisters in the future. It took Isis a bit to get used to the beach, but once she did, she wanted all her walks on the beach. She spent the evenings chasing ghost crabs but was unable to catch one. It was a great time for everyone!
Looking forward to the next visit to Barrier Dunes! Thanks again.
Frank and Karen Dintino (June 2013)
We had a great time at Barrier Dunes. One surprising thing that my wife Karen & I really liked was the lack of crowds all around the area. Wife, Kids, dogs & I had a great time.
Spent lots of time on the beach, kids loved the pool. Dogs loved digging in the sand. Went fishing a few times – very relaxing! We even spent 1/2 day at Panama City on a cloudy day because my 9 yr old wanted to ride bumper boats & play miniature golf – & ate at the famous Captain Andersons.
Thank you again for being a great host.
Robin Harvey (March 2013)
Your place was great and we did have a relaxing time. I tried to leave your place like I would my family place in Destin, so I’m happy all was well.
Thank you for sharing it with us and thank you for being so easy to deal with! Thanks for being so easy-going!
John Bongard (March 2013)
We tried to take care of the lovely unit. The view was beautiful and the sound of the surf at night was wonderful to listen to as you settle down to sleep. Very soothing. The Cape is a beautiful area.
Paula Carter, September 2012
We made it safely back home and very well rested. We loved the condo and enjoyed our stay very much. Rusty, our dog especially had a great time. It was a new experience for him. We met some really nice people who love dogs as much as we love ours. Thanks for everything to get us such a nice place at the last minute. We definitely will be visiting Cape San Blas again!
Amy Shreve, May 2011
We had a wonderful time and I’ve already told several of my dog-loving friends about what a special place Cape San Blas is! It was a truly a special place. The combination of incredible weather (even CNN said the Panhandle was the best weather in America while we were there!), the beautiful surroundings, and the fun of seeing our dogs frolic of the beach was magic. I can’t remember when I’ve seen so many stars at night. Just wonderful. Thanks so much.
Dena and Rusty Harris, April 2011
I just wanted to thank you for fixing myself and my wife along with our dog Pepper up iwth a wonderful stay in Barrier Dunes 11. We had a wonderful time along with experienceing a beautiful part of the world. We will be back!
Cathy Hyland, March 2011 (multiple repeats!)
We just got back from an extended. We appreciate the grill being replaced the day after we realized it didn’t work. Thanks to you and your people, we had a great stay on the Cape. Great wather and very peaceful. Hope to be back again next year!
Cathy Harrison, March 2011
We had a wonderful time at the Cape!! Do you ever hear of anyone wanting to do a monthly summer rental? We have grown children and grandchildren and would love to have a place to meet up in June and July. The loation we had was fabulous and the sunsets were beautiful. Thanks gain!
Rebecca Burgess, December 2010 (repeat guest)
Winter in Paradise was a real treat. It is every bit as beautiful on the Cape this time of year as any other. We had a wonderful time and your attention to every detail, from the lovely art prints, to the excellent book selection, to a basket of cozy throws, was icing on the cake. I’ll be in touch to arrange a trip for spring!
Tami Lawrence, November 2010
We had a wonderful time at the beach! Though we experienced stormy weather for a couple days, we found the home extremely comfortable and relaxing. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed the beach. It was a such a joy to experience their first trip to the beach. I absolutely loved the view form the rooms….breathtaking.
Also, we made several meals while we were there. Your kitchen is well stocked; we had all the kitchenware needed to cook a variety of meals. We definitely intend to stay at Paradise again…perhaps in September. Thank you again for everything.
Tammy Martin, October 2010
We had a wonderful time at Barrier Dunes 11. Everything was more than expected. Thanks for all your help. I have added Cape San Blas to my top 10 list. We will definitely be back.
Kay McCoy, October 2010
What a wonderful week….better weather could not have been ordered and your place is so comfortable. I tried to leave it as we found it, which was in great shape. Each morning I got up, walked the dogs, fed the dogs, walked them some more, hung out at the beach, ate lunch, hung out at the beach, walked the dogs, watched the sunset, the full moon rise, ate dinner at home or out, went to bed and the next day, same schedule. The only changes were the different shows we watched at night. Thank you so much and so glad we found your little paradise. Would I do anything different to make our stay better? NO!
Thank you again for your kindness. Hope we can meet some day. Please thank Donna for taking care of us…. Glad to learn you didn’t need any of our deposit. Hope to visit again some day soon
Teri Elliott, October 2010
We had a great time. Loved the location and didn’t want to return home. Hopefully we will get another chance to visit Barrier Dunes!
Bill Aultman, September 2010
We had a great time! Everyone was very comfortable and we thought the furnishings were awesome. We will certainly be returning. My sister lives down the road and she loved the unit and will be contacting you when see needs “overflow”. It’s nice to be pleasantly surprised rather than mildly disappointed!
Brenda Brooks, August 2010
Everyone loved Paradise – Barrier Dunes 11. The view from the decks can’t be beat. My 3-year old granddaugher had a blast on the beach (I contributed a few more sand toys for the condo)! My son, daughter and her fiance went kayaking and had a wonderful time…… Paradise 11 is a gorgeous condo!
Mia McDonnell, June 2010
We had a great time! Jim, Brendan and I and my folks all got some much needed R&R. The pups (ha ha 11 and 6) are pooped. We were so glad there were no issues with oil. We were very comfortable in the unit and it was well stocked for our needed. And you couldn’t get any closer to the beach! Pool access also is great. Beaches are absolutely beautiful and relaxing, we enjoyed it so much. One of the highlights was watching the sun set from our deck…wow, it goes quick but sure is beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to stay there. We will definitely return and call you when we are ready!
Howard Bayerle, April 2010
We had a wonderful time in Cape San Blas. Your Paradise beach home was very comfortable and relaxing. The pups had a blast on the beach and they greatly appreciated the amenities that Barrier Dunes offered (grass!!). We hope to come back again next year. The picture is of Ubu (Lab) on the Paradise rear deck! I think his expression says it all!
Clint and Sara Calvet, April 2010
We had another great trip to Cape San Blas this year! We enjoyed our 3rd year staying with you in Barrier Dunes and Paradise is the best way to stay. We enjoyed LOTS of beach time thanks to beautiful weather and having the beach just steps away from our door. Our daughter (at 2 years old) was able to really have fun this year.
Tom & Sara Edwards and Family, March 2010
We had a wonderful vacation. We really enjoyed Paradise, as it really is paradise. The location was amazing: I am having trouble going to sleep now without the sound of waves outside our door. We spent most of our time on the balconies and enjoyed a fire on the beach nearly every night. We cooked every day and really did very little other than relax and collect shells. The house was beautiful, comfortable and a real treat to spend the week in. We were very satisfied and hope to return again next year.
The local manager was very helpful and accessible which was nice. We had a great experience both while there and with the booking process, which can be a little scary sight unseen. We will definitely recommend you and we will be returning.
Betsy Lamons and Family, March 2010
Thank you so much for making our family spring break trip the most memorable one ever! The sunsets were beautiful, shells galore on the beach, dolphins just a few feet away–everything that you had mentioned on the Cape Escape website. It was amazing! And your condo was so cozy it made us feel right at home. The girls loved the heated pool and especially loved that our dog, Bama, could hang with us on the beach!! Thanks again for everything and we will be booking again with you soon…hopefully in August.! Thanks again!
Marianne Stallsmith, January/February 2010
I am ready to go back to Paradise. We had a great time. It was exactly what you said and we loved the area. Hopefully we will be able to be back there again next year. Thanks for everything and for making it so easy!
Jory and Lisa Feustel (and family), Christmas/New Years 2009-10
We made it back and were greeted with 8″ of snow in the driveway and single digit temperatures. We miss Cape San Blas already!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The highlight was a New Year’s Eve on the beach in front of a fire and under that second full moon (and temps in the 60’s) We also enjoyed the home very much. Everyone loved having their own accommodations (yes, my mother-in-law did end up joining us)
I have attached a photo of our family minus the dog and our mom. Hopefully we will do this again in the future.
Pam Urban, December 2009
We had a wonderful time and are already looking at the calendar for a 2010 visit. Paradise was beautiful and the people were welcoming. Cape San Blas is just what we were looking for in a vacation. Both of our dogs loved their morning walks on the beach as much as we did.
We wish you a peaceful and joyous New Year!
Clint and Sarah Calvert, August 2009 (Repeat Guest)
Thank you for checking in and for the speedy return on the deposit. We had a great stay with you, minus the storm (Camille). We really enjoy “Paradise” and decided that’s the best way to stay on the Cape — directly on the beach! Our 17 month old had a blast playing in the sand and the ocean. Clint caught a bunch of fish — even went fishing in the rain a few times…though we did not try the dip recipe, but wil next time.
Thank you for all your help — and we will be back next year again :o)
Bill McAweeney, April 2009
We had a great time. It (Barrier Dunes 11) was a great location and very comfortable condo. I will definitely contact you when we plan for the next trip to Cape San Blas. Thanks for everything.
Bonnie and Hugh McConnachie, February 2009
Everyone loved our vacation. The kids, the dogs and Hugh and I. It was amazing. What a lovely place. Thanks to Donna for the tennis rackets. That was really nice of her and her kids. Yes, we are planning on booking for 2010 for 2 weeks, probably the last week in February and first week in March or last 2 in February and we would like Barrier Dunes 11 again. Hugh and I are retired so time is not a problem, but the kids will have to look at their calendars.
Ryan & Marina Howley, February 2009
We loved our time at the Cape. The house was very nice and cozy and the beach was just beautiful. I was impressed by all the wild life and nature in the area. We saw lots of dolphins, pelicans, birds and even an armadillo. We thought that was amazing. Our Golden, Lua, had a wonderful time and had lots of fun. She loves to swim and chase the ball so she just had teh perfect time at the beach. Thank you!!!!
Lua, golden retriever, discovered there were great places to enjoy a beach sunseet all over Barrier Dunes 11!
Sue Arnspiger, September 2008
We had a great time. The dogs loved the beach, first time for both of them!
Tom Gibbs, August 2008 (Roanoke, VA)
We had THE BEST time! The weather was perfect and the place was just beautiful. We had looked so long to find a place where we could take our dog– ended up not going at all last summer as we could not find anything close to the beach that allowed pets. She truly believes she is one of us, so leaving her behind just was not an option. We were so excited to see how she would like swimming in the ocean and she LOVED it! Stepping out our back door and being on the beautiful Gulf was a real paradise!
We “shelled” each morning, what wonderful shells…we saw something new every day. My father is from Pensacola so I was familiar with the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters…but is always amazing to see how pretty it is when you’ve been away from it. But where can you find such a beautiful location and now crowds?!? We were so impressed with the solitude and quiet area — no high-rises, Walmarts, tourist traps, etc. I so glad TS Faye did not do any damage to the area.
The guest guide was so helpful — especially the restaurant guides and what to do sections. Enjoyed Sunset Grille and Loggerhead especially — fabulous food and such friendly owners. In fact, everyone we met the entire week was so nice and friendly. We all so appreciated being able to bring ALL our family, and I was amazed how clean the beaches and town home was. Everyone’s pets were so well behaved and most folks we spoke to were repeat visitors…as we will now become! We did go into Apalachicola and enjoyed shopping around their adorable shops and want to go to St. George next time.
It was a real benefit to have chairs, boogie boards, Frisbees etc., already in the townhouse. It just could not have been better furnished — everything we needed was there. We enjoyed grilling fresh seafood one night so we could stay out on the beach late. Several evenings folks had bonfires and it was just beautiful to sit out and walk on the beach at night.
Thank you for all you did to make our week so very special. We will definitely be in touch as soon as we have dates lined up for next summer…if not before! You have been absolute delight to work with (although I knew a Hokie would!!) and we really appreciate all you did to get us set for a wonderful week.
Thanks again — it was absolutely perfect in every way!!
Carey Beavers, August 2008
We had a great time and would love to come back!
Sharon Tolleson, June 2008
We did have a great week! The weather was great and the water was beautiful. We were able to spend every day on the beach and at the pool. You’ll be my first contact next year!
Laurie Walker, June 2008
We all had the most wonderful time and want to go back again. We had 1 morning of rain and the rest of the days were wonderful. Even the rain was great. Larry spent most of his time fishing and he got some whiting and we had a fish fry our last day there and then a bonfire and Monica played the guitar and we sang. The sky was so clear we could see the stars and there was a slight breeze. Totally awesome!
If I win the lottery I am buying a condo or beach house there. The dogs had a wonderful time and enjoyed their walks and meeting other dogs. Monica had Pixie shitzu in the ocean and she actually enjoyed it rolling in the sand. There was a nice standard poodle there and some other nice dogs, including a 9 mo cute little shitzu. Next to us in the condo was a golden lab mix and she was a nice dog.
I prefer the Cape to Hawaii by far! We took out noodles in the water and bobbed around the waves and then would bob out again and bob back. The water was so warm and we got tons of shells. All 6 of us had a great time. In the morning it was relaxing in front of the Gulf waters drinking our coffee and we would end up at night sitting out there too. We really enjoyed being right on the beach–it made such a difference.
Thank you for taking such good care of the properties. How can I enjoy the rest of the summer when all I want to do is go back there? Thanks for the quick return of the deposit!
Russell Brown, Mexico Beach, FL, April 2008
We had such a great time! The condo was beautiful. It was a great escape! It was just what we needed. We’ll come back for sure and stay longer next time. Thanks so much!
Marcus and Marilyn Looker, March 2008
It was really fabulous, thank you so much! We loved it! Perfect for our family. Everyone in our party is just RAVING about it! Beautiful home!
Jane Forfar, Repeat Guest. March 2008
We had a great time at the beach. The house was perfect, clean and had everything we needed. We had a couple of rough days weather wise, but I loved lying in bed listening to the ocean. We didn’t take many pictures, mainly of our 2 poodles, Wee Joe and Pinot.
Michelle Clayton, February 2008
Thank you so much for everything, including the quick deposit refund. You are so on top of things. Paradise was just that — paradise. My only complaint was my trip was too short. But hey, a couple of days at the beach is better than no days at the beach. Dakotah loved it. He was like a small kid — begging to go back out anytime we were inside the condo. Getting there later than planned on Wednesday night I missed the sunset, however the next 2 were beautiful. I am sure you get many sunset pictures that you are sick of them, but I have sent a couple anyway. The 2 we enjoyed were so different, but both so beautiful. Dakotah even enjoyed th e sunsets.
Please pass on to the owners that us pet lovers really do appreciate the pet friendly accommodations. That is the feature that drew me to the Cape and it will bring me back. I am glad you guys realize that some four legged children are better behaved than some of the two legged ones. Please also let the owners know that you do a spectacular job at managing the property. Your efficiency and helpfulness are both way above what is expected. I will recommend your properties every opportunity I have!
Michelle’s rottwieler, Dakotah, enjoyed the beach & sand right to the tip of his nose!
Mike, Tracy & Riley (Border Collie), February 2008
I received my deposit check in the mail today. Thanks for the quick refund.
Our week at the Cape was wonderful! Mike and I haven’t stopped talking about it since we’ve been home. The location and the atmosphere was just what we were hoping for. We especially appreciated the well stocked and cared for town home and the great views from all 3 gulf front decks. The pet friendly accommodations and beaches allowed us to bring our border collie, Riley, with us and he is now officially a “beach dog”. He dug for crabs in the sand, fished with Mike and “herded” the waves all week. He was hilarious to watch and Mike and I realized, in lou of sheep, living at the beach may be the next best thing for Riley!!!! And us too….
Thanks for all the things Donna ran out to us the first day. They made our stay even more enjoyable. And thanks for all the wonderful information you provided to us before and during our stay. Your courteous, prompt and professional nature put the icing on the cake for us! We will be returning to the Cape in the future.
Thanks for everything!
Dawn Kmiec, February 2008
Last week (in Cape San Blas) was the first week of a three week vacation with the dogs. We have spent this week in Key West where the dogs have been on a leash all week in crowds and in our rental, which cost more than the Cape and is the size of our laundry room at home.
We completely enjoyed the quiet atmosphere last week and the condo was great with all of our “away from home needs”. We had many shrimp dinners on the deck overlooking the gulf…
Mike and Lesley de Rosayro, February 2008
We had a great time and certainly plan on going back next year, maybe for 2 weeks! Will be in touch!
Dana Brown, December 2007
We enjoyed our time at the Cape very much. It was 8 p.m. when we arrived so we were “in the dark” as to what the beach looked like, but we could hear it. The next morning my husband and I took Rosie (Aussie Shepherd) and Angel (Mini Dachshund) for their walk. We were both in awe of how white the sand is and that no one else was on the beach. Rosie kept looking at the waves and whining. She couldn’t understand why the big bowl of water was moving! Angel was not impressed at all with the sand (yuck, it didn’t taste good) or the water! What do you expect from a diva dog!
We found the most beautiful shells and even sand dollars (16 of them) the day after a night time rainstorm. Our daughter didn’t care that the water was cold, she walked in waist deep. Our son stood near the water so I could take his picture and a wave snuck up on him knee deep!
The sunsets were amazing, especially from the master bedroom balcony. The few people we met on the beach were very friendly and they all greeted our pets too! The date before leaving we all went on one last shell hunt. After coming back we were climbing the steps over the dunes and I turned to look back and just over my daughter’s shoulder I saw 3 dolphins surface for air. She didn’t believe me at first, but then she saw them too. That has to be my most treasured memory.
We would love to return to Barrier Dunes in the future! Next time I think we’ll try the summertime.
Teresa Hinkle, November 2007
Thanks for the quick refund! Our visit to the Cape was just what we needed! This was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun and sand! Weather was great — 70’s in the day and cool at night!
Our dog, Parker, really enjoyed his first vacation as well. Made lots of friends and enjoyed the beach very much.
The accommodations were beyond our expectations! I honestly expected them to be a bit “rough” considering the fact that you allow furry friends, and we were frankly shocked at how clean, nice and well stocked the townhouse was! It was great to walk off the deck and straight to the beach!
Speaking of beach—what a great beach it is! Deserves the kudos it has received! I just referred your Barrier Dunes rentals to a friend! Happy holidays!
