Deborah Brandkamp (March/April 2013)
We all had a fabulous time in Cape San Blas and loved your condo!!!
We actually are considering doing it again! We loved the fact that we could have campfires on the beach (only had one though). Our dog Cooper loved the beach and the ocean was a new concept for him. We had to keep him from drinking the ocean since you obviously know it doesn’t mix well with their bowel functionality! Don’t worry, this didn’t happen inside the condo. Phew! I would love to bring my parents there next time. We really like the location of your condo too! What a nice community this was, ranging in ages from young families to seniors! LOVE IT!!!
Julie Banks (April 2013)
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely escape with our family! We had a wonderful and relaxing time. What a beautiful place! I can't tell you how much we enjoyed the trip and how much we appreciate the care that was put into making us comfortable. I will also send pictures of the trip soon.
Donna Oldenburg (March 2013)
Back at home and settled in at last. Just wanted to get back to you about our time on the Cape. We still spent tons of time on the beach with the dogs, flying kites, playing in the sand, taking walks, etc.
We loved Cape Escape II (91). It was just lovely. The decor/colors were just to our taste and the floors were lovely. You had us so well stocked with supplies that we wanted for nothing the whole week.
I am so happy we choose Unit 91. The kids had a blast feeding the fish and fishing off the deck. They never really caught much, but it was still fun. It was also peaceful. The dogs really enjoyed the deck & spent so much time out there just watching all the other dogs and people walk by. I have some cute pictures of everything. Kids also loved to rollerblade around Barrier Dunes. My husband and I enjoyed playing tennis.
We kept busy all week. Here is a recap of what we did and where we ate:
Arrival date Saturday: Walk on beach and dinner at Sunset Coast Grille. Good service and nice meal with great view.
Sunday: Nice beach day. Dinner at Triple Tails. Hubby loved the Oysters. My scallops were just Ok, but chocolate cheesecake for dessert was fabulous.
Monday. Spent the day in Apalachicola. Lots of fun. Loved the little shops. Took the dogs and they had their first restaurant experience at Up the Creek Raw Bar on the water. What fun and lunch was great. Loved the bisque. It felt a bit warmer there too.
Tuesday: Indian Pass Raw Bar for lunch. Really busy. Very long wait, but crab legs and oysters and burgers were terrific. What an experience. Hungry Howie's for dinner (not the best ).
Wednesday: Off to Panama City Beach for Gulf World Marine Park. It's small and certainly not Sea World, but my kids enjoyed it. Good for a half day. Saw two shows and the exhibits and paid extra for my girls to do a hands-on dolphin experience which was $45 each for 15-20 minutes, but they loved getting to touch and command the dolphin.
Gracie O'Malley's for dinner. Fish was good, hubby liked his steak too.
Thursday: Rented bikes in the morning at Scallop Cove and then to the beach for the rest of the day. Dinner at Joe Mamma's which we loved. Amazing Clam Chowder (and I come from the East Coast so I know New England Clam Chowder). Pizzas also wonderful. My favorite meal of the week.
Friday: Left at 5 a.m. and sorry to say goodbye.
Quotes from my 9 year old. "It was super fun!"
Quote from my 12-year-old: "Amazingly awesome!"
Quote from my husband: "I thought it was great."
Quote from me: "A great place to reconnect with the family. Loved it! Our family is always on the go, and even on vacations we tend to over schedule by running from one attraction to another. Cape Escape was the perfect place to be still and enjoy the natural beauty and time together. We all came home relaxed. Being able to bring our dogs made it even better. I loved how dog friendly the area was, from the beaches to te restaurants.
Thanks again for everything. Happy Easter!
Jill Hues (March/April 2013)
EVERYTHING was lovely!! We were VERY comfortable. My husband's wish was that we would go there and do nothing (except eat seafood). No touristy stuff. In all our travels he knows I like to see everything. So I agreed and we lounged around - worked on the computer, read books, fed the turtles, walked around the resort and to Conehead once. Oh, those donuts at the Trading Post were wonderful!
The beach walks were very nice as well. Gretchen would lay in the surf while the wave was going out but get up when the wave came in. She never really went swimming but enjoyed laying beside us while we sat in the chairs and read. I was so impressed with her good behavior. She is a country dog and had only taken 15 minute trips to the vet but she was the perfect traveler and so laid back with all the activity going on around us. On a funny note, this was my first time ever picking up dog poop! It was not all that bad. Here at home we have a doggie door and she goes out and comes back whenever she wants so I was a little concerned about her ability to let us know she needed to go out but we were vigilant taking her out frequently so there was never a problem. We ate at Triple Tails every night. Their seafood was good and we tried everything on the menu - even took Gretchen three nights. We just didn't feel like venturing further and making more decisions about where to eat.
We have talked to both our boys and their families about returning with us, perhaps next spring break, and getting one of the units right on the beach. We thought the resort was a great location and so family friendly. I want to bring bikes and a portable awning and have a fire on the beach next time. How quickly do those units book?
Thanks for everything! You have been most helpful in many ways.
Rex Wuthrich (March/April 2013)
I just wanted to send a quick note to thank-you for all the help. We had a great time. Everything was great. No issues or problems. Beautiful white sand beaches for walking / playing, plenty of sun, a sunset campfire on the beach, golf, shopping.....it doesn't get any better. Thanks so much for having us. We loved it.
The Mitchell Family (March 2013)
Wendy, we had a great time at the Cape really enjoyed your condo and had a wonderful time at the beach. It was a little cool first part of the week but then warmed up nicely for the rest looks like we will be coming back. :)
Jessa and Trixie loved the sand. We ate at the raw oyster bar twice we liked it so much.

Great Sand!
We even looked at some properties while we were there.
John Borek (March 2013)
We had a great trip! The beach was fantastic and the house served all our needs. Exactly what we hoped for-- Barkley rates the rental unit a 10 out of a possible 10.
Leah Sleger (March 2013)
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I've been crazy busy, wish I was still relaxing in Cape San Blas! We absolutely loved our vacation. The condo (Barrier Dunes 91 - Cape Escape II) was excellent. The dogs were SO excited to be on the beach & swimming in the ocean. Our female needed to chase every bird and also decided she wanted to join a pod of dolphins for a swim. Needless to say she's definitely an ocean baby! We can't wait to come back.
P.S. We ate at the Indian Pass Raw Bar twice and loved it.
Roger and Sara Cates (March 2013)
We had a very pleasant stay. The beach was great and the home was very nice. Our dog really enjoyed running and playing on the beach. I believe my nieces especially enjoyed the time we had together. It had been years since we had seen them, so it was a special time for us.
Julie Cassidy, Repeat Guests (March 2013)
Once again we had a great time on the Cape. This year my parents even joined us by camping at the state park. This made for extra special memories and we especially enjoyed a campfire and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows on the beach our last night!
We returned home just in time to beat the winter storm that hit Kansas overnight. Rather than looking outside and seeing powder white sand we have a blanket of snow that resembles the sugar white sand of the Cape!
Thanks for providing such a great home for us to enjoy on our Spring Break!
Connie & Joe Berson (and pups), March 2013
We took our time getting back to cold Illinois, so we arrived late Saturday. But we all had a wonderful time at the Cape. It was great being able to take our pets along and not having to worry about them if they were boarded. But everything was great. Barrier Dunes 67 - Cape Escape I was great, very comfortable and we enjoyed the food and places we tried while there. Thank you for being so easy to deal with, we don't get that kind of experience too often and it was great a hassle free vacation. We were all amazed at the great service and how nice the place was and no hassle with our dogs. Thanks again to you. Will send very cute pictures of our dogs at the beach if that's ok soon. Also would like to make this a yearly thing for us.
Thanks so very much!
Connie , Joe , Logan , Emmitt , and Dallas Bersano
Alyssa Hunter (March 2013)
We had an awesome stay. The place was great and Jetson loved the beach. We would definitely come back again or refer it to others too. We had a relaxing time and just sat at the beach, pool and went out for dinner! The weather was great and when the wind died down it was beautiful! Thanks do much!
DB (Feb/March 2013)
Thank you Wendy – it is a beautiful home with the best view at BD! Miss Cape San Blas already- nine degrees this morning and snow storm tomorrow- oh well...Thanks for the note. Will continue to follow you on Facebook- love the postings.
John Bongard (March 2013)
We tried to take care of the lovely unit. The view was beautiful and the sound of the surf at night was wonderful to listen to as you settle down to sleep. Very soothing. The Cape is a beautiful area.
Angelo and Vicki Lattuca (January 2013)
Hi Wendy. We made it back ok... snow...yuck! I'd rather be walking on the beach! Now i understand why retirees become "snowbirds!" Cape San Blas was everything you said it would be. It's the perfect place for us. We met so many wonderful people too, very friendly & welcoming.
We hiked, played tennis, fished, went to the gym in port st. joe a few times a week. next time we will bring our bikes & Angelo wants to get an ocean kayak to explore the bay. There's so much wildlife to see: dolphins, sharks, deer, birds, alligators, snakes, manatees, wow...everyday...something different. We went to Wakulla Springs State Park which was beautiful (& educational). We went to some of the local restaurants you suggested & the food was great. The local folks are so helpful & sweet, which made our visit even more special. Our dog lexi had the best vacation of her life! (our little dog Chloe past away on Christmas eve :( she was 15 & it was quite sudden) We really needed to get away after the holidays & just relax... we enjoyed every day in Barrier Bunes...& the sunsets are so breathtaking! You have a great place there Wendy, it felt so homey & comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Thank you for the best vacation ever!
Curtis and Paulette Peil (January 2013)
We just finished the best vacation in thirty (30) years at Barrier Dunes #15. These are the things that we enjoyed. The direct view of The Gulf and the porch off of the living area. It was a great place to rest with our buddies (dogs) and to enjoy the great weather (in January). We rode our bike's frequently and found the closeness to St Joseph State Park and the bike trail along side 30E to give us a safe trail and enjoyable scenery. Conehead's restaurant, which is within walking distance, tuned out to be one of our favorites. Their seafood gumbo is tremendous. They have a full menu with quality food at a reasonable price.
The beach was fabulous and the other guests were friendly. Everyone was dog friendly and took responsibility for their pets. The pet stations and walking areas in the facility were handy and well planned out. The condo was equipped with everything one would need and more and the information provided helped to be familiar with the community. When I needed assistance, Wendy and her staff, were prompt and professional in helping us. We definitely will be back. Thanks for a wonderful time.
Charlie Chafer, January 2013
Thanks, we had a great time and found the beach wonderful. Our Lab, Buttercup, found plenty of other dogs to play with and the people we met on the beach were very friendly. The condo was great - carefully maintained and ideally situated. We do plan to return, probably in September.
Thanks again for introducing us to Cape San Blas - it was a special week for my parents and us.
Michelle Murphy, December 2012
Thank you for having us at your wonderful condo. We had a great time. Everything we could possibly need was there. The kitchen was very well and thoughtfully stocked. From the second we walked in we felt at home. We went on the beach every day. I think the visit to the beach was the pinnacle of my dog's whole life. That is how much he enjoyed it. We would definitely return to one of your condos. Thanks again.
The Gellis Family (Repeats) December 2012
We had the most wonderful Christmas this year! It was so nice to spend it in such a paradise! The boys, dogs, my husband and I are very rested and happy. Your place is so wonderful and we hope to return next year, too. We have some pix that I'll forward to you. I think the most interesting thing that happened was that I helped save a pelican that was caught in a fishing line! No kidding! There was a professional photographer there, too, which is unbelievable. He said that he would post the pix to his facebook page. I will be in touch when the pictures are in. Best wishes for a happy new year!
Cheryl, David, Samantha and Jack (the dog) Campbell, November 2012
We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Cape San Blas, the Barrier Dunes and Cape Escape #67! We had a fabulous family trip, and DO plan to return! The town home was better than expected, comfortable, clean and homey. We were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked it was! The carport set up was great for the dog and we were all pleased to find the beach equipment in the shed - the little wagon cart was key! We had a few sunny days, and with temps in the low 70's we were able to "play" on the beach and even waded in the water a bit. Our 8 month old Labrador was in heaven! Too bad we missed you! We had to head out to South Carolina to meet family for Thanksgiving, but were raving about our Florida find and were hoping to get them out there with us next year. Hopefully we'll get to meet in person then!
Thanks for your follow up. Have a Happy Holiday with your family!
Cindy Johnson, October 2012
We had a wonderful time Thank you. You did think of everything. Maggie was not real keen on the water but did enjoy the beach. We did meet Zeus and Titan while we were there but no pictures of the three Great Danes together
If I could have gotten all three together I would have named the picture THE DANE GANG. Got some really great pics of the beautiful sunsets. Thanks again for everything.
Mike and Becky Earlywine, October 2012
We loved the condo. Even though it was not directly fronting the gulf. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, that is important to me as a amateur gardener/landscape designer. The beach was just about perfect. It was a great time of year to visit. My wife was really pleased and our dogs enjoyed the ocean water for the first time!
Thanks for your help with the rental.
Rebecca Burgess Multiple Repeat Guest (October 2012)
LATHER with little luxuries of Barrier Dunes 91, RINSE with sun, sand, great fishing, and REPEAT – OFTEN. Our recipe for a great vacation. I’ll be in touch for next time, as soon as we can.
Karen Smalley (and Dave Barker) Barrier Dunes 12 October 2012
Just wanted to let you know that we stayed in Barrier Dunes last week and it was the best vacation I've ever had! The condo (Barrier Dunes 12) exceeded our expectations, the weather was perfect, and of course the dog friendly beach was the best part.
I made a movie from our vacation photos and thought you might like to use it for something, and if not that's fine too. Here is the link to the you tube video. Thank you!
Jessica Smith, September 2012
Thanks so much Wendy! Our trip was amazingly breathtaking. We were in town for a wedding so we did not get to explore much beyond the beach or pool but had the best time! My husband and I are already talking about making another trip down for our own family vacation. The location of 67 really was perfect, what an easy walk to everything. We did make it to the Indian Pass Raw bar and Sunset coastal grill which were both so yummy!! The wedding was catered by Provisions which was also delicious! It really was the best trip we've taken this year and we cant wait to come back. Most likely the same time of year, we loved how deserted it felt! It was so nice getting away from the world for a couple days. Thanks again for making everything so easy!
Tim Ashburn July 2012
We had an awesome stay. The weather, beach, food and golf were some the best I have experienced at the Panhandle. We feel in love the "Forgotten Coast" and Turtle Crawl. I do want to come back soon. I am looking at dates for next May or June and would like to have a beachfront unit. When you suggest making a reservation so we do not get booked out?
Kim and Joe Kenney April 2012
Thanks for the great unit! It had everything we could possibly need and was so clean! Your attention to detail made our week so enjoyable.
Donna M Bernard, March 2012
Just returned from 2 perfect weeks. My dogs and family loved the Barrier Dunes and the condo and beach are everything that the staff at Cape Escape claimed them to be!! We took up salt water fishing from the beach as an added plus, went biking and kayaking (all right down the road) and visited St Joe's State Park around the bend. Liked it so much we already booked for next year. THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Ashley Boggs and Ronnie Marshall, July 2011
We had a wonderful time. The accommodations were perfect. It has been our favorite place to stay so far in 6 years. The only wish we had was for more time. When we come back, and we will, a week or more is necessary. We never made it to Port St. Joe to visit! Just passed through. We snorkeled all day. Placed on the beach in the evening with flash lights and my son fished. The dogs were in heaven as well. My cocker spaniel loves to swim in the waves. And my 15 year olds had plenty of people to talk to. GREAT family vacation. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanh & Lara Nyuyen, June 2011
We had a great time at the Cape and enjoyed staying at your condo. It had everything we could possibly need and it was the perfect spot to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
We spent most of our time at Barrier Dunes, walking Satchel (great dane) on the beach early in the mornings and at sunset when it was a bit cooler. He's not crazy about getting wet, but loves to play in the shallow surf. We also met a lot of nice people staying at Barrier Dunes. As you can imagine, we get a lot of attention walking the big guy around.
We would definitely recommend it to your family and friends!

Ron Waggoner, June 2011
We had a great time and the condo was perfect for us. We cooked shrimp and steaks on the grill. Freshest shrimp I've had in quite a while. Took a side trip to Mexico Beach and let Nathan ride a waverunner while there (we watched from the bar at the El Govenor Hotel). Went to the Indian Pass Raw Bar --AWESOME! The beach and amenities at Barrier Dunes were great. Everything exceeded our expectations. Thanks for introducing us to this area of Florida. So much nicer than the congested Destin/Panama City area. We will definitely be back!!
Robin Burgess, May 2011
(Repeat Guest)
We had a great time at the beach and staying in Cape Escape I! It was indeed a pleasant surprise to see that you had just done some upgrades to your place! How nice it was :-)! We met several people there.....we were all surprised at the number repeat visitors coming back to a wonderful place. The beach was wonderful and our new miniature schnauzer had a great time seeing the ocean for the first time...something we would not be able to do anywhere else. We actually did not leave Barrier Dunes the whole time we were there. We just relaxed and enjoyed everything there. Hope to be back soon!
Carrie Todd, April 2011
We had a wonderful time at Seascape and Cape San Blas! Our stay was most enjoyable and the accommodations were top notch. So many amennities were provied...we lacked for nothing while we were there. Thank you for the fast action to the baby gates too!
We were fortunate to have superb weather during our stay so took full advantage of the beach, and your beach chairs all week. We attempted crabbing at the state park but only came up with one so we set him free! We did go on a guided fishing trip and the bay and caught a large red fish, flounder and trout....my husband was less fortunate and go nothing....and I will never let him forget that!
Conesheads is a quaint little place and was visited twince. Both times the food was good. Other than that we just relaxed and enjoyed the Cape. We are ready to go back NOW!
Thanks so much for giving us a great vacation. My husband told me Sunday night that it was the best one he's ever had!
Joshua De Land, April 2011
We had an amazing time. It was like a home away from home (except with a beach out the front door). We will definitely be back!
Dena and Rusty Harris, April 2011
I just wanted to thank you for fixing myself and my wife along with our dog Pepper up iwth a wonderful stay in Barrier Dunes 11. We had a wonderful time along with experienceing a beautiful part of the world. We will be back!
Tricia Pokrandt, March 2011
We absolutely LOVED our time at Barrier Dunes 15. It was so comfortable and relaxing. The sunsets were awesome, and our time on the beach was the best. The kids loved swimming in the ocean. We saw 2 dolphins one day. We also went into St. Joseph's State Park and took a hike along the bay. We saw many crabs on the beach there. We were thrilled to stay the extra night too.
Thanks again for a great place to get away....especially front Wisconsin at this time of year! We really appreciated working with you!
Jenni Arnold, March 2011
We are just leaving Cape San Blas. Thank you so much for everything. We really enjoyed Barrier Dunes 67! We will let you know when we can return.
Wakulla Springs is awesome. We took the river cruise and couldn't believe all the alligators, manatees and birds we saw. We also enjoyed the horseback riding at Salinas Park. Russell and Julie runa great horseback riding organization!
Leslie Schwab, January 2011
I cannot express how much we loved our 2 weeks in Florida. It was sooooo relaxing and beautiful. Your place was so clean and nicely decorated, I didn't want to go home. I have never seen the dogs having so much fun as they had on the beach. I wish we could have stayed longer but Barry had to get back to his work and I had to get back to taking care of my parents. I can't believe how fast 2 weeks went. We loved it so much and we would like to go back next year. Thank you so much for everything you did to make this trip great. I will be talking to you!
Rebecca Burgess, December 2010 (repeat guest)
Winter in Paradise was a real treat. It is every bit as beautiful on the Cape this time of year as any other. We had a wonderful time and your attention to every detail, from the lovely art prints, to the excellent book selection, to a basket of cozy throws, was icing on the cake. I'll be in touch to arrange a trip for spring!
Carol Gasior, November 2010
We returned to a cloudy, rainy, cold Chattanooga--but with great memories of sun and sand an waves! we were all very impressed by Tropical Breeze and I think we want to return next year. As soon as we can pick some dates I will be in touch to make reservations! Thanks for all your help and for making the whole process go so smoothly. I did get to the beach some, but also enjoyed the pools and went to Port St. Joe and APalachicola and do some exploring. We managed to eat our way through 3 bushels of lysters, plus shrimp and fish and crab, so you can imagine we spent a lot of time cooking and eating!
Maureen & Barry, October 2010
We are back safely and finding the rain a shock after the gorgeious weather and that beautiful beach. Kuma (their dog) had a wonderful time! He was a little unsure about the waives hitting him, but he wanted to be on that bach constantly. What a great location for the condo. I could not have imagined a better view sitting on the deck morning, afternoon and evening. The sunsets were awesome. Just beautiful. I hope we can get back for a long stay next time!
Tom and Margaret Clelland, October 2010
We loved it! We had everything we needed. Our pups loved it as well. My English Bulldog thinks she is a bird chasing waterdog now! I had to call Donna (NOTE: Donna is our wonderful local manager) with a couple of questions and she was great. I'll send you some pictures in a few days.
We would like to come back for a week next April. I'll know our schedule in a few days and give you a call!
Amber and the Silva Crew, September 2010
We will most definately reach out to you when we take our next trip to the Cape. It was just like I pictured and better. We did it all in such a short amount of time but the kids will have some awesome memories. Thanks again.
Bill Aultman, September 2010
We had a great time! Everyone was very comfortable and we thought the furnishings were awesome. We will certainly be returning. My sister lives down the road and she loved the unit and will be contacting you when see needs "overflow". It's nice to be pleasantly surprised rather than mildly disappointed!
Cindy and Michael Townsend, Aug/Sept. 2010
Our trip to the Cape was absolutely fantastic! Pelican View was awesome and had everything we needed. My husband enjoyed the trip very much....many changes since he was last there, but all GOOD! We had 1 stormy day but we went exploring in Port St. Joe, Indian Pass, Apalachicola & St. George Island. Ate at the Indian Pass Raw Bar and at Boss Oyster House in Apalachicola---both places were AWESOME! Nothing like fresh raw oysters, steamed shrimp and bay scallops!! We went horseback riding on the beach with Two-Bit" and they were great...beautiful horses...lots of fun! Being on the Cape with the beach literally at our back door (and having the beach practically ALL to ourselves) was so amazing...we got to see several pods of dolphins swim by one morning RIGHT in front of us! Must have been 14-16 of those beautiful creatures! ALl in all I have to say it is one of the BEST vacations EVER...we will definitely be back.
Thank you SO much for all your attention to details, your timely responses to emails and for helping us plan and experience such a wonderful vacation!
Rita Gleason, August 2010
We really enjoyed our stay at the condo and Cape San Blas! It was a relaxing place for all of us. We had a gareat time scalloping and got our quotas for the day. Our daughter and son-in-law wer the King and Queen of finding the scallops! Thier first time and they loved it!
We saw 2 turtles swimming in the bay and dolphines feeding on bait fish. It was neat. We enjoyed the evening sunsets and rainbox. Dakata enjoyed waiting on the beach beach....wish he could have experienced this in his younger days. Thanks again for your all your hlep and we look forward to another trip to the Cape!
Sharon Williams, August 2010
We had a great time. Even though it was overcast, it worked out better for Blue (Great Dane). He is used to A/C and the heat got to him. He didn't care for the water much, but I think if our trip had been longer he would have gotten to love it. The accommodations were perfect for us, very clean and comfortable. He really was an attraction on the beach, was well mannered and played will with the bigger dogs. The little ones growled and barked at him and he would come running back to us.
We loved the Trading Post (NOTE: this is 1 of the 2 convenience stores on the Cape). The folks running it are very nice and their kids loved Blue. We definitely think this will be our vacation spot & will be in touch. It's a great place for us, pets, children and grandkids. I love where you take the little ones out and they can have a little freedom.
Again, thanks for the ease and help you gave us trying a new place and for helping us with what we needed for our trip!
Ruben Lagos, August 2010
We had a great time and were really sad to leave. Hopefully we can be back soon. The place was perfect and had everything we needed. My "1st time to the beach" lab had a wonderful time. At first he was a bit hesitant to go too fare in, but after a while he was swimming right next to us. Thanks a lot for having this dog friendly beach!
Elaine Garvey, August 2010
We had an absolutely fantastic time. The location was exactly what I wanted - we took lots of lovely long walks with the dog and she came swimming with us! It was so relaxing and peaceful. I would definitely love to come back -- it is a wonderful escape from the city. Thank you for all your help organizing on short notice -- the ease of organizing certainly added to the relaxing experience.
Tammie Meadows, August 2010
Just wanted to let you know we loved it! I like the beach early in the morning and had it almost to myself. It was great! Thanks for everything!
Jeffrey Moore, July 2010
We are on the road headed back to Tennessee. We had a fantastic time in Barrier Dunes on Cape San Blas! I have a feeling Cape San Blas will be replacing our usual summer beach destination. In fact, there is already talk among the family about a return trip sometime later this year! Thanks again for our help and assistance in arranging our vacation rental this week!
Sarah Huxford, July 2010
Thanks, Wendy! We had a great trip -- NO OIL IN SIGHT! My dog, Laila, had a blast digging on the beach :-)! Thanks also for sending the deposit back so quickly. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider coming back next year!
Sonya G. , June 2010
We just returned from enjoying a little piece of heaven. It was a true Cape Escape. The week just flew by. We were able to take both of our kids, our grandson and, last but not least, our little French Bulldog. It was a truly family fun time. Relaxing on our deck while are grandson played in a little pool (yes, a little glass of wine and a good book too), relaxing by the pool (yes, a n ice cold beer and the same good book) and relaxing on the beach (maybe another cold beer, but the same good book). Sun was hot, water was clear and beer was ice cold!!
No set schedules, no to do lists, no anxiety about leaving the dog at the kennel... I just can't wait to go back. You alwasy wonder about dealing with someone long distance, but Wendy made me feel that we wer eold friends just handling some business.
Everyone had a BLAST! Just plain old family fun....bonding and catching up with everyones life...and OMG the sunsets! It is like God just kissed the sky and it exploded!!
Glenda and David Fuino, June 2010
My husband and I would like to thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. The home was beautifully decorated, the kitchen very well stocked, and the beach more beautiful than any I've visited. Our favorite part was the dog friendly atmosphere. Our dog, Sasha, loved interacting with the other dogs in the area. The whole town had a relaxed air that was just what we needed. We will definitely be back and have already suggested Barrier Dunes to many of our friends!
Sal Casas, Kennesaw GA May/June 2010
Just a note to tell you that we enjoyed our stay and would certainly come back again. We enjoyed the privacy, the security and the friendly people. Your unit was very clean and very comfortable. We will certainly tell our friends!
Dave and Holly Kent, April 2010
We had a great time at the beach. Barrier Dunes 4 was a really nice unit and we did enjoy it. We had everything we needed for our stay there. We did a lot of grilling out of fresh fish or shrimp almost every day and tried the oysters everything we went to town. We did not leave hungry. The weather was perfect and we couldn't have been in a better position to catch the sunset each evening. Phoebe (their dog) wore herself out chasing after anything that moved on the beach. Thanks for providing us such a nice place to vacation!
Betsy Lamons and Family, March 2010
Thank you so much for making our family spring break trip the most memorable one ever! The sunsets were beautiful, shells galore on the beach, dolphins just a few feet away--everything that you had mentioned on the Cape Escape website. It was amazing! And your condo was so cozy it made us feel right at home. The girls loved the heated pool and especially loved that our dog, Bama, could hang with us on the beach!! Thanks again for everything and we will be booking again with you soon...hopefully in August.! Thanks again!

We had a great time at the Cape. The accommodations were perfect! We'd love to return again, we just wish the beach was a little closer to Kansas! I've told my sister and her family about the Cape Escape and I know they would love to make the trip as well. We really enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the beach and have some great pictures to remember the trip. We were also thrilled to see dolphins (on several occasions) just off the beach! We didn't try the Indian Pass Raw Bar until our last day, but we would have eaten there every meal if we'd discovered it sooner!
We will definitely keep Cape San Blas on our list of favorite vacations!

It couldn't have been a better trip! Turtle Crawl (Barrier Dunes 191) was perfect for us and so well equipped for our stay. Thanks for being so attentive to details.
Luke, our almost 2 year old loved being introduced to the beach, the dogs are still sleeping after getting home more than 24 hours ago and my husband and I are so thrilled that we booked the trip....definitely a week of great memories!

What an awesome time we had!!! The children and dogs had an absolute ball! The Golden thought he had died and gone to heaven...so funny at first...watching those waves coming in and going out and having to bark at them a lot before he leapt and stayed in the water! My kids LOVED the place. They thought it was unbelievable getting to have their own room and bath. They felt like they had their own haven.
We needed this trip and THIS beach. SO relaxing, so unspoiled and once again, the friendliest people I've ever met everywhere you go!
We got to go to the Indian Pass Raw Bar and just loved it. Ate soooo much of the best seafood we had ever had. We just can't wait to go back. Also had some of the best Mexican food we ever had at Pepper's (Port St. Joe). I took them to the Dockside Cafe for lunch as they were heading out on Sunday and they thoroughly enjoyed that too. We had the dogs with us and they sat us outside, dogs and all.
It was a dream come true for us to get to vacation with our dogs. I don't think there is a place more like Paradise than the Cape, especially with you and Donna tending the nests there. You really go all out to make us feel pampered and that is felt immediately. My son (who loves to cook!) couldn't believe what a well stocked kitchen it was. And my daughter loved the decor. It was a huge hit all the way around. We plan to do this every year!
Again, my hat is off to you and your attention to excellence. Donna is just a doll and it was so good to see her again. Thanks for EVERYTHING!

Just wanted to let you know I received the deposit check today. Thank you for being so prompt and efficient with everything related to our Cape Escape get away. My only complaint is that it passed too quickly. We had a great time. Everything we needed was provided. I'm hoping we'll be able to do it again next year.

We had a great time. Your home is beautiful. WE relaxed and played on the beach the entire time. Duke (black lab) never played so hard. He has only been to the beach once (Biloxi, MS) for an hour or two, so he was in heaven.......We enjoyed quality time with our only child. She is 20 and away at college so we needed to get away and be together i/o at home where there is always work to be done.
We have already recommended the Cape to several people and are trying to have a family reunion there!

Thank you so much for providing such a a wonderful getaway spot! The Cape Escape I was by far the best vacation rental property we have had (and we have been to several in the last 6 months or so)! We had a wonderful time and the wedding was wonderful too. Thanks again and we look forward to our next trip down when we will absolutely get in touch with you for reservations!

As usual we felt very much at home as soon as we walked in the door of your great vacation home. Your home is so comfortable. It is easy to kick back and relax. Being "repeat" visitors, we were even more comfortable. We are so grateful that you allow us to bring the dogs with us. They love the Cape as much as we do!
We had a wonderful time at the Cape...walking the beach, reading a lot, playing ball on the beach with the dogs and letting the dogs swim and crash into the waves! Our Golden Retriever, Uno, was quite the hit carrying his bag of tennis balls to and from the beach every day. We saw dolphins nearly every day right off shore in front of Barrier Dunes and 1 day there were at least 20-30 of them stretched along the shore for several yards! It was great to see them frolicking in the water. We were also delighted to see a bald eagle in flight over the beach on 2 separate occasions.
We returned home almost 2 weeks ago, relaxed and ready to get back to the daily grind, but we are already thinking about next year! Thanks again Wendy!

I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed Turtle Crawl & Barrier Dunes. You had almost everything anyone would need.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I have never rented a vacation home over the internet or without a friends recommendation but we loved Barrier Dunes and the area. The grounds were lovely and the condo was immaculate and so nicely decorated. We loved the walks on the beach, watching the dolphins, collecting shells and so much more. We also went horseback riding on the beach and booked a boating/snorkeling trip with Seahorse Safaris.
I have to thank you for all the information you provided on your website. We used all of it. This was a great trip and so easy to do with our dogs. We were able to take them most everywhere. Being able to take them on the beach made it so easy. I also have to comment on how clean and well maintained the grounds are.
Wendy, thanks again for your assistance.
